Scotland’s Capital City
Edinburgh is an exciting city and packed with history and with plenty of things to do. An absolute must visit is Edinburgh Castle, the castle is in the middle of the city centre and is accessible via Edinburgh’s famous Royal Mile. Tours run daily and can be booked online in advance. The view from the top is nothing short of spectacular and is a great way in take in the atmosphere of the city.
Other popular attractions include The Edinburgh Dungeons for a trip through Scotland’s darkest history and The Royal Yacht Britannia, once the personal Yacht of the Queen. It was decommissioned in 1997 and is now permanently docked in Leith, the yacht gives an interesting insight into how the Royal Family spent their vacations.
If you are lucky enough to be visiting Edinburgh in the month of August, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe takes place for the majority of the month, with some of the biggest names in comedy as well as free shows and street performances, Edinburgh really bursts into life as entertainers on every corner display their special talent to their vast public audience. As well as comedy the incredible Edinburgh Military Tattoo takes over the Castle Esplanade where military bands from around the world preform for a sold out audience every night. Matinee performances are available, it is recommended you book tickets in advance.
