Boasting the highest mountain in the British Isles, Ben Nevis is located near Fort William and stands proudly at 1,345 metre (4,411 ft) above sea level. Also in the highlands of Scotland we have the world famous Loch Ness, home to the legend of Nessie – The Loch Ness Monster. Loch Ness is Scotland’s second deepest loch but holds the number one spot for highest volume of water, in fact Loch Ness has more water than all of the freshwater Lakes in England and Wales.

Edinburgh is Scotland’s capital and second most populated city. Edinburgh’s most recognised and popular attraction is the Castle which sits on top of a volcanic rock. The Castle is steeped in history and is a must see for any tourist in Edinburgh. Take a walk up the Royal Mile towards the castle and take in the incredible atmosphere, surroundings and views.

Glasgow is Scotland’s largest city, and is most famous for it’s long history of shipbuilding on the River Clyde. The river is mostly used for pleasure sailing these days. Glasgow has much to offer in terms of shopping, eating and museums, many of which are free to enter and are home to many of Scotland’s historical artefacts and art. Glasgow also has an ever-evolving eclectic west end, which independent restaurants, bars and trendy cafes.

Scotland’s most famous export is of course Malt Whisky, the majority of distilleries operate tours, where you can experience a detailed, enjoyable and informative insight into how whisky is produced from start to finish. The tours always finish with a “dram” to sample the product.
